AIA understands how valuable Emerging Professionals and their engagement can be to the profession as a whole as well as to members’ individual careers. Emerging Professionals are architecture students, recent graduates, professionals working towards licensure, and architects licensed ten years or less.

Work Hard | Play Hard

The Central Virginia chapter provides an event series called Work Hard | Play Hard. These events are meant to provide support and fellowship for Emerging Professionals. The first Monday of each month, AIA CVA Emerging Professionals gather at 7pm in downtown Charlottesville to collaborate for the ARE, swap strategies, form study groups for different divisions, trade study materials and tips. The third Monday of each month we meet again at 5pm in downtown Charlottesville only this time for a cocktail and a few laughs. Stop by any of these events to learn more. Membership is not required to participate!

Work Hard | Play Hard has taken a summer hiatus and will return new and improved in September!

Why Join?

Joining the AIA as a young professional offers a variety of networking opportunities, resources for growth and valuable career connections.

Lunch and Learns provide continuing education or IDP hours. “Work Hard | Play Hard” events provide study groups and social happy hours once a month for support through the licensing process. AIA CVA provides access to more opportunities for educational exposure or IDP hours through job site visits, workshops, and lectures.

Membership in the AIA Central Virginia chapter allows you to connect more deeply with the Central Virginia community, form new relationships in the area, and serve the community using your talents and skills. Get started!

A degree from a NAAB accredited school is not a requirement for Membership in the AIA.
