Sketching Workshop led by a local artist from McGuffey Art Center!
Join us for a guided session of sketching strategies and techniques with McGuffey Artist, John A. Hancock. Bring your own preferred sketching supplies if you have them. Plain drawing paper and pens will be available for use during the workshop as well if you are new, or unused, to hand sketching. Should the weather be in our favor, a portion of the workshop will include urban sketching. Coffee and donuts will be provided!
John A. Hancock will be leading our workshop!
Hancock is an Associate Artist at McGuffey Art Center, specializing in painting and drawing. His work is an exploration of the natural world and our place within that world. Using direct observation, memories, and community to generate ideas and images. Visit his website here.
Artist Recommended Supplies:
Pens:
• fountain pen
• Sharpie EXTRA Fine (or similar like a Micron, Pitt, Copic, or an Arteza fine line marker)
• Flair pen
• a ball point pen is ok, as long as the ink flows freely/isn’t sticky.
Paper:
Typing paper or copy paper is not ideal, it’s too flimsy and very inconsistent with pen inks.
A small pad of drawing paper, not larger than 11 by 14 inches and not newsprint type, would be perfect. 4-5 sheets would be great. If the paper is loose or the pad is not stiff, a clip board would be a great addition.
