Architecture Week: Movie Night!

Let us take you to the movies at the Violet Crown Theater in Downtown Charlottesville!

Meet us at the bar for drinks, then grab some popcorn or snacks and head to our private screening of an award-winning film - The Human Shelter!

Our communities face many challenges that impact housing - from rising cost of housing, to rising rates of homelessness, conflict, migration, and the impact of climate change. Before we enjoy the film, we’ll hear from experts in our community about the need facing our neighbors - and how we can help.

RSVP here.

Featuring: The Human Shelter

"The Human Shelter is one of the most beautiful documentaries I have watched this year”
- Wendy Godman, editor, NEW YORK MAGAZINE

Filmed on four continents, The Human Shelter is a poetic and arresting exploration of what makes a home.  From a refugee camp outside Mosul, a shanty town on the lagoon in Lagos, or a six square meter apartment in Tokyo, Bertram explores how people make homes in a constantly changing world.

Through interviews with architects, anthropologists, and people across the globe, Bertram examines the cultural significance of the places we call home, and how they shape our lives. From nomadic reindeer herders in the arctic circle to NASA’s futuristic Mars Habitat in a volcano in Hawaii, he celebrates the creativity and human resilience that is expressed in the way we live.

The Human Shelter is a poetic and visually stunning exploration of the universal human desire to find place and belonging.
